The
Hi-Line Area
The Hi-line of Montana
is the string of towns that follows the Burlington Northern Sante Fe
Railroad across the top of Montana's high plains. The people that live
in Northern Montana are independent hard working people. They
spend their spare time enjoying the
recreational opportunities that are available. From
exploring Glacier National Park,
or hunting the Missouri Breaks
National Monument, or fishing
for walleye on Lake Elwell, or
camping at the many
state parks. There are many sports to enjoy. Our high
quality schools, low crime,
and affordable property make it a great place to live and work.

Costs:
The biggest advantage to doing business on the HiLine is
cost.
Commercial and residential property is the cheapest you will find
anywhere in the US. With starter homes starting at @ $10,000. You will
have to look hard to find anywhere cheaper, where you can leave your
doors unlocked at night.
Quality of life: Not only is
property very affordable on the HiLine, but crime is almost
nonexistent. Property crime is
rare, and violent crime is unheard of. Our community is a friendly
place where you will find many friends and opportunities.
Ever wanted to be a fireman? You can here on the local volunteer fire
department. Or be a 4-H or scout leader. There is an opportunity for
almost any interest on the Hi-line.
You will learn to know your neighbors in a small community. You
will share in your neighbors successes and stumbles as they will yours.
Each member of the community brings something new and special to it. If
you choose to move on most likely you will leave an impression in the
community that will not soon be forgotten. Respect for
others is important here, patriotism is not a dirty word either. People
still show respect for the flag.
Schools: If you have
children the local school systems are great. Class sizes are
small. Most classes are not more than twenty students in the
grade, with most classes being 12-16. Many high school classes are
often very small in special study areas. If a class is not
offered that a student requests distance learning over multimedia
networks is offered. Often your child receive the attention that
most private school students don't receive.
Both local high schools have a wide variety of class
offerings. Students are able to access a wide variety of
scholastic and extracurricular activities.
If your child is interested in sports, our small schools are
great. There are programs for grade school through high school. For
most teams there are no try outs. Even if you are not a
star most athletes will get plenty of playing time on
the junior varsity teams. Grade school children are kept
busy with flag football, soccer, dance, and basketball.. The
junior high students enjoy similar activities. The high school
students at both high schools compete in boys & girls basket ball,
boys football, girls volleyball, track & field, as well as
speech and drama. C-JI High also offers, swimming, wrestling, and
tennis.
The school district that Joplin lays in is a consolidated
district. The towns of Chester, Joplin, Inverness are all one school
district. Combined they make the Chester-Joplin-Inverness Public
School. (C-JI HiLine Hawks) Both the grade and high school are in
Chester. The other district that is close to Joplin is the North
Star Public Schools. This district is comprised of the towns of
Rudyard, Hingham, Gildford, and Kremlin. The high school is in Rudyard,
and the grade school is in Gildford. Both schools are great
and complement each other well.
Outside of school there are oppurtunities for the children in
church organizations, Brownies, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and 4-H. There
is even a group of girls that competes competitively at barrel
racing.
Havre is home of Montana State University, Northern. It has
some tremendous programs, and has a really good continuing education
program.
